Product Review
Product Description
This retro alarm clock is an authentic reproduction, down to the small details of the 1949 Style 6 original, with two modern improvements: a quartz analog movement that keeps time with a AA battery (not included), so you don't have to remember to wind the clock every night, and a pleasant crescendo beep alarm. The satin black metal case with chrome trim and black vintage dial with white hand and numerals make for a handsome clock that will complement a retro decor in the bedroom, study, or office. The luminous hands make for easy night-time viewing. The clock also features a separate alarm indicator on the dial, a second hand, and separate time and alarm setting knobs in the back. Dimensions: Width: 5-1/4 inches, Height: 5-1/2 inches, Depth: 2-3/4 inches, Dial is 4 inches diameter.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stay Away from this Junk, March 2, 2011

Stay away from this junk. Except for certain children's toys, I have never before seen a product -- especially one bearing a reputable brand -- too cheaply built to stay together. But that's what this clock is: too cheaply built to stay together. Its design is inherently defective and the materials used to implement this design incredibly cheap. Specifically, the time-set wand that sticks through the back cover will not stay on the time-set stem that is on the other side of the back cover. It keeps falling off, and when it does it drops inside the clock. To fix it, you've got to unscrew the back cover and stick it back on the stem. But it's not going to stay there. Eventually, it will fall off again. It's no good to glue it on to the stem. Doing that keeps the clock hands from moving. Apparently, the stem has to be able to rotate inside the wand. That's probably why the wand fits so loosely and keeps falling off. Which leads me back to my first point: defective design.

2.0 out of 5 stars great look, poor function, January 12, 2011

Great look, and I find the exterior quality fine. Sadly, after only a few months the second hand sticks and the other hands then cannot rotate. A gentle shake temporarily remedied the problem for a few days, but now it doesn't work.

I bought this because I wanted a bedside alarm clock that didn't have a lighted dial, which I find annoying. Unfortunately, the hands are so dim that I can't tell what time it is during the night. Otherwise, I like the clock. I like the retro look and relatively small size. If you don't mind not being able tell the time during the night, it's a great alarm clock.
