This review is from: Westclox 1925 LaSalle Big Ben Clock with Pewter Finish (Kitchen) I sleep very soundly so I always set two alarms -- one electric and one non-electric. My Big Ben finally failed and I bought this one. I think it is very attractive and the lens is glass -- not plastic like many clocks on the market today. I don't have an issue pulling the button up like another reviewer mentioned. AND, it is quite loud. All in all, I recommend this clock without reservation. The only negative would be that you cannot see it in the dark, but for me it doesn't matter because I have an electric clock radio. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Becky (Raleigh, NC) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Westclox 1925 LaSalle Big Ben Clock with Pewter Finish (Kitchen) I wanted a nice-looking clock for my guest room bedside table and this is perfect for what I was looking for. Good looking, nice medium-to- smallish size, easy to set, keeps good time, and can be used for an alarm clock by a guest if they really need it... although nowadays most folks have alarm clocks on their cell phones for travel. I would not want to rely on this clock to be my only wake-up call for work; no anologue alarm clock is going to be as accurate as a digital. It probably would not be loud enough for me anyway, and, as other reviewers have mentioned, you won't see it in the dark. So, just know what you're getting and make sure it's right for your needs. If you're okay with the features or lack thereof, you should have no surprises and will be very satisfied with your pretty new clock. :) By cjpmak (New York) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) First, the good: it's attractive, and I love the art nouveau look of the clock's face. It's also got a glass covering to keep out dust. Bad: you want to turn the alarm on? You have to pull up the button on the top of the clock, and the button itself has flat sides, unlike your watch, which probably has a button resembling an upside-down pyramid. With flat sides, it's a real challenge to set the alarm. Additionally, you have to pull it up every night before bed. Argghh!!! This is what I get for $24.99? Also, it's a little smaller than I expected, which is probably my fault, and don't forget that at night, without a night light, if you wake up in the middle of the night looking for the time, you won't be able to see, since the phosphorescently laminated hands wear off quickly from the time you turn out the lights. The alarm is also imprecise, sounding off within a certain unknown range of time...Read more |
