Summary: Best All-Around 2007-08-13
Comment: I bought this clock 11 months ago to be able to see the time when I wake up without my glasses. RED numbers, which this clock has, are the best to see with poor vision; blue or green LED's fade out. The 1.5" high numbers are just right to be able to still see without glasses, (but not overpowering like the gigantic 2" or 3" high numbers on some other clocks that take over the whole room). The 1.5" numbers on this particular clock are for medium-low vision and people who need glasses. This clock is perfect for me... there are very few well-designed alarm clocks. The small yellow glow of the snooze bar doesn't bother me at all; you don't even see it when your eyes are closed to sleep. All I want is a medium-large RED colored number display with an alarm buzzer, not too big a casing and available in a white or silver for the bedroom, and black for the TV room...(but black is not available). I had a hard time finding a model with these simple criteria...this was the only one, and I'm buying 2 more today, one for the TV room, and one for my mom.

Summary: ugh. 2007-06-19
Comment: This could've been a decent design, but as usual screwy "features" ruin it.
The buttons are generally in sensible places and not a complete disaster like the Timex T307S. So far so good.
But.. the radio tuning knob is so stiff that first you have to stabilize the clock with one hand while tuning the insensitive dial with the other. Try doing that from your bed. It's a real treat. And Timex has decided that YOU ARE NOT TURNING OFF THE SNOOZE BAR!!! which lights up. You know when people need a snooze bar? In the half hour near the time they wake up in the morning! Not in the 8 hours they're sleeping!!! Isn't that a zany concept? Light it up when it's needed.
The LED numbers are so bright on either of the 2 settings, that the options should be labeled: "Compete with the Vegas strip!" or (on the brighter setting) "Signal the Mother Ship in the Next Galaxy!" In other words, whatever you've done to darken your bedroom is reversed by this clock. Uh... thanks for that, Timex!? The problem would have been easily remedied with a dim setting, but the difference between the two options they offer is negligible.
The muffled speaker is on the back face which means to hear the radio you have to turn it up 50 percent higher than you actually need to and bounce the sound off a wall. There is no way to listen to the radio quietly.
Timex, why do you think a shapely case is all there is to design? Why do you burden your users with dumb assumptions about how the radio will sit on a night table? ...junky controls? Design is performative! This is what you do for a living; you're supposed to be experts at it. Have you never used an alarm clock? I'm 0 for 2 on Timex alarm clocks in the past few months. This one's going back to the store too.
For a laugh, type "alarm clock" into the search tool and look at the sheer number of one and two star duds you get to select from; all types, all price-points. Something like 40 pages of alarm clocks people hate. ha ha ha. The state of alarm clock design is tragic!

Comment: Nice clock, relatively easy to set up. Has permanent strip lighting on top which is somewhat annoying at night

Comment: Besides looking sharp, this clock is easy to use and works great. This is super for people who can't see regular clock numbers without glasses. If you wake up in the middle of the night, you won't have to scramble around for those glasses!
