If you've ever had trouble seeing the time on your clock radio, the Timex T256 is exactly what you've been waiting for. This model features an extra large 1.4" super bright red LED time display that is easily readable from across the room, even in bright sunlight. But the display can also be dimmed for sleeping. The space serving vertical design takes up minimal room on your nightstand, but the 2.25" dynamic speaker provides surprisingly big sound from the AM/FM radio. The top mounted controls are large, easy to see and user friendly. You can fall asleep listening to music and the radio will shut off automatically. Wake up to radio or to a buzzer alarm that starts softly and gradually increases in volume to wake you gently. And if you need to hit that oversize snooze bar for a few more minutes sleep, it actually flashes when the alarm goes off to make sure you can't miss it in a dark room. There's also a battery back up system that will maintain the time and alarm settings in case of a power failure, and a low battery warning indicator will remind you when the back up battery needs changing.

Pros: Large numbers allow for easy reading from across the room, the "low battery" light is a nice feature, the snooze bar is very well lit, and the switches and dials are very well labeled in white for easy reading.

Cons: Energy consumption is a bit high (6 watts) and, when the LED display switch is set on "dim", the LED is way too bright (in comparison to a few other clock radios I own)

Summary: Good clock if you don't need it by your bedside, otherwise the brightness may keep you up at night.

I finally found an alarm clock with gentle buzzer sound which won't give me a heart attack. The sound gradually become louder. Battery back up system is useful for me because we often get power outage. A Large time display is really helpful for astigmatism.

Only problem I have is the brightness of the display. There are 2 settings and I use the dimmer one, but it's still a bit too bright.

Good quality radio reception/sound. My only reservation out of the box is that a number of other functions are push down like the snooze bar on the top.
I suspect this may lead to problems down the road.Worth a try at it's price point.
