Good concept, but poor quality control, doesn't work with iPad,

The first unit I received would charge my iPad, but it would not play from the iPad (ipad 1 running IOS 5). It worked fine with an iPod nano. Tech support at the Sharper image suggested it was defective and I should return for a replacement. Amazon had a new one to me in two days with Prime shipping. The second unit would not even charge my iPad. Again it worked fine with the iPod. Tech support from Sharper Image is sending a replacement directly from their warehouse this time. This product is feature rich (remote control, additional USB port to charge other gadgets, dimmable display) at a good price point. If only it would work with my iPad!
Edited to add: the replacement unit sent directly from the Sharper Image worked with my iPad initially. Now it will only charge intermittently and the alarm function failed the first time I used it (no sound came out of the speakers). Choose another brand!

Clock looks beautiful but has lot of technical flaws:
1. Clock looses time ~1min every 2 days
2. ipod 4G plays music but does not charge
3. Alarm does not set for 7, 5 or 2 days as in instruction manual (option is completely missing in clock)
I had submitted a issue with seller and received no reply, I am returning this clock

I don't know where the Bedside Dock Twist was bought by the other reviewers, but I have had absolutely NO problems with this new-on-the-market product. Got it from JCPenney, when I was spoofed by the reviews for this product, so that I would have a full 1 year warranty. It works fine with my ipad and ipod. The instruction booklet is necessary at first. The only errors that occurred were on the user part, and I just called Sharper Image's customer support at 1.888.856.6781 for clarification. The customer service agent was polite and very helpful. She said that she rarely gets calls about the product, and the ipad will charge slower than the smaller apple products. Has only FM radio and single wire antenna. Has good dimmer. Gradually wakes you up over 2 minutes. There is a remote included as well.
