However, the viewing angle on the LCD ends at about 20 degrees above horizontal making it completly worthless unless you put it on the floor or sleep standing up. It order to tell what time it is and not just see a complete wash of green I have to nearly get completly out of bed. Makes you long for the days when little pieces of plastic fell over revealing the next digit, and I wasn't even alive then! :D 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: By Practical Gourmet "practicalgourmet" (mid-coast Maine) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony ICF-C263 AM/FM Clock Radio with Digital Tuner (Black) (Electronics) A clock radio in my opinion should in this order 1) have an easy to use reliable alarm, 2) display the time visibly, and 3) have an easy to use radio function.
This clock radio fulfilled only item 3. The digital tuner was nifty and accurate, making it easy to tune in my favorite station in my rural location. Wait, isn't this a basic feature in most clock radios? Is it not the primary function of a clock radio to to awaken the user by playing an alarm (or the radio) at a pre-set time? With no battery back up (something my $8 Wal-Mart clock radio has) it fails to meet its primary function (feature 1). And did I mention I can easily read the time on my cheap-o Wal-Mart clock radio? I ignored the reviews because I REALLY wanted a clock radio with a digital tuner,...Read more 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By Marc (NJ) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Sony ICF-C263 AM/FM Clock Radio with Digital Tuner (Black) (Electronics) Because I didn't quite believe other reviews about the inability to see the clock face at certain angles (I have a dresser next to my bed, instead of a traditional night table), I figured I'd try this clock-radio that seemed to have all the features I wanted. I have returned it, since it was impossible to see the time from my bed. Next time I'll know better. |
