4.0 out of 5 stars alarm is not "ascending", March 17, 2009
This review is from: Seiko QXE021GLH Bedside Alarm Clock (Electronics)
Although this is the best alarm clock I've found, yet, the alarm is far from "ascending," as promised. Though the alarm bell isn't harsh, it is far from soft when it first goes off. I'd classify its "ascending" sequence as loud, then loud and fast, and then loud and fast and very annoying. The delay between sequences is also very, very short, so you're quickly to the final, most annoying alarm setting if you don't immediately jump up and turn it off, which seems counter to the whole idea behind the clock. The second hand, as well, is not silent, either. If you have it on a night stand right next to your bed, you can hear it, though it's much quieter and much less annoying than a typical alarm clock's tick-tick-tick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good basic clock., January 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seiko QXE021GLH Bedside Alarm Clock (Electronics)
Pros:
Very slightly glow in the dark face
Snooze button (when pressed) lights up face
Seiko ascending alarm
Angled so that it is easy to see from above
Wide(ish) alarm on/off switch
Alarm setting dial on side of clock (only counter-clockwise)

Cons:
When glow in the dark fades at night, it is hard to see
Kind of fat, takes up a lot of room on nightstand

For the price, this is a good clock. If you like a clock that is lit at night so you can see where it is, this one is marginal. But an analog clock with a constant babcklight at night will cost a lot more. For that, try the Seiko Ultimate Alarm Clock (it goes on sale occassionally).

Personally, I like the angle of the clock (a plus) which makes up for the depth (a minus).

A good value for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seiko alarm, December 28, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the absolute best alarm clock I have ever owned. It first wakes you GENTLY with a little "blip, blip," then gets faster, then gets LOUDER and FASTER. I love it!! The service was excellent also - very fast.
