Product Review

With a classic-meets-modern look, useful snooze and glowing features, and an easy, portable design, the Seiko Bedside Alarm Clock Black Case is perfect for home or travel. The clock rests on a black plastic base with a large dial at the bottom right that rotates to adjust the time. Framed in a silver-tone trim case, the white dial features large, easy-to-read Arabic numeral hour markers, luminous hands, including a quiet-sweep second hand, and a light sensor to make the clock face glow softly in the dark. By pushing the button on top of the case, the dial glows brighter. When an alarm is set, the dial illuminates green; when off, it glows amber. Hitting the snooze button resets the alarm to ring again in a few minutes. This bedside clock is ready to use with three AA batteries included.

I first bought one for my son because he had trouble setting other clocks for school and would get up late.. later got another since my wife and I kept changing wake settings and I needed my own.

Setting the alarm is SUPER easy. There is a built in night-light, amber when the alarm is turned off, green when on. Auto-sensor turns off LED in the daytime or when lights are on. Pressing the snooze button increases LED brightness making the clock easily visible in the dark. I thought the LEDs would mean frequent battery changes but they last and last. Alarm sound is an escalating beep that increases in volume.

This is a great clock for any drowsy person to operate correctly.

One thing that nobody else has noted is this clock's size; it's BIG! The circumference of the face is 4-1/2 to 5 inches (didn't actually measure it, just estimated). I found that a pleasant surprise, but I can see somebody possibly ordering one of these thinking it's a travel-sized clock since no dimensions are given on the product info page.
The backlighting is great; it doesn't light up the whole room but you can make out what time it is at night. The amber/green (alarm off/on indicator)light is a nice touch too.
The alarm is persistent without jolting you awake. It starts with a moderate multi note pattern, then progresses to the persistent part. The snooze bar is on top right where it should be and has an interval of about 5 minutes before the alarm sounds again.
The second hand sweeps instead of ticking off, which makes the clock extremely silent. Last but not least, the alarm setting wheel is on the front of the clock and the alarm on/off switch is big and located...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars What a sweet clock!, January 25, 2008

Alarm clocks all seem to have a personality and this one is like an apple-pie-baking sort of friend. Cheery in the morning, subtle lighting in the dark - but easily brightened for viewing the time, reliable, quiet, straightforward - need I say more? It tells the time and wakes you up - no additional gimmicks. Very easy to set, the color of the face light lets you know if it's on or off, the alarm increases in intensity, so it doesn't attack you first thing in the morning, plus it has a snooze button! The only unknown for me at this time is what happens when the batteries die. Does the clock just stop without warning or will it begin slowing down? In my opinion, it's worth the wait. I've tried out a lot of clocks and this is clearly the best one for me.
