Summary: An alarm clock that really doesn't want to get you out of bed 2010-06-19
Comment: It has two alarm modes you set with a wobbly switch on the back: Alarm and Snooze. When set to "Alarm" you better jump out of bed right after you hit the snooze button. You see, the "snooze" bar shuts off the alarm for the rest of the day. No second chances at wakies! Not much of a snooze feature if you ask me. If you set it for "Snooze" you have an additional 5-minute interval of sleep when you press the Snooze bar. You can do this twice only. After that, you are not going to be roused further by this clock. That's badly thought-out by the designers in my opinion. Other clocks I've owned keep after you which is nice for those times when you hit "snooze" while you are actually still asleep. I like my alarm clocks to be more insistent and help me overcome my groggy operator error. Five minutes is too short a snooze time, anyway.
The AM-PM indicator for the alarm is microscopic. You might want to try 24-hour time to avoid catastrophe. The slide switch for the alarm on the back is wobbly and not smooth in its action. For such and expensive clock I expect it to slide like butter. It feels like it has sand in it and is about to break. Every time you set the alarm time, the clock has to re-sync with the time signal. This has no real impact on it being an alarm clock but the instructions do say that excessive time-syncing uses the batteries more. The useless button on the front is to re-sync the time which is pointless since it syncs automatically.
There are no rubber feet on this clock and it is tall and narrowly-based to the extreme. Expect to find it knocked over or on the floor some mornings unless you silence the alarm with pinpoint accuracy. (Not a problem after 10 minutes since you'll be back in dreamland anyway, missing work.)
On the plus side: It's loud enough to wake me, so that's nice. I just don't trust it to get me out of bed. It's going back.

Summary: Best Alarm Clock Ever! 2010-02-06
Comment: This is my second Seiko Alarm Clock. The first one lasted about eight years. I couldn't find a replacement locally so I tried three other atomic clocks (all different brands) but I was so spoiled by this clock that I returned all of them and found it online and immediately ordered it. You never have to set it after the first initial setting. If the electricity goes off it still has the correct time. The clock face is large and the touch 'glow' light is great for when you wake up and wonder what time it is. It is compact so it doesn't take up much space on the nightstand. The only negative is the alarm is loud, it definitely wakes you up!

Summary: I love it 2010-01-20
Comment: I needed a clock I could rely on--one that would not stop when the electricity went off, and one that had an alarm that was reliable. After missing two appointments, I needed rescue. My clock arrived quickly in good shape, I inserted the batteries, and it set itself. I tested the alarm and it is loud enough but not annoying. I still cringe when I remember the clanging like a fire bell from a clock my husband brought to our marriage. That clock mysteriously disappeared. I can read this one without my glasses and in the dark I can push a button to light up the dial and not have to turn on the bedside light. What more can I ask?

Summary: Excellent, but pricey 2010-01-01
Comment: This does what it says it does and fits my needs exactly. Bedroom nightstand that I can easily see in the dark and read without my glasses. It costs more than it should, however.

Summary: Very good clock but not built to last a decade 2009-11-06
Comment: I bought this clock to replace the same model that my wife has had for too many years to remember. The alarm switch on her clock stopped working and even though we thought it should have lasted longer, she liked the clock so much that she wanted another one just like it. The clock itself is of moderate size, but the display is a large portion of the front of the clock, which makes it easy to read from a distance. I can only say that it is a nice clock that meets the description on the Amazon site. It has lasted at least over 7 years without a problem. Since my wife is rather frugal, it indicates to me that she felt she received adequate service from the product over what she thought was a reasonable lifetime. I do not have an alternative way to measure the performance of this clock other than her relative satisfaction. Accordingly, we believe 4 stars is a fair assessment.
