Product Description
They do everything but make you breakfast. Whom else would you rather wake up next to than a stylish RCA AM/FM Clock Radio? A brightly lit display shows the time, while features like Graduwake ramp-up alarm keep you from being blasted out of bed. Other handy extras include time-set lock, "no worry" battery back-up (you supply the batteries), and built-in FM tuning.Graduake Alarm offers a more pleasant waking experience, by gradually increasing the volume until turned off or the Snooze function is activated. This built-in alarm feature automatically sets itself at the minimum volume level. When the alarm sounds in Wake mode, it gradually increases the volume during the first 30 seconds. The result is a smoother transition from sleep to wake. AM/FM Stereo Tuner receives AM, FM, and FM stereo broadcasts. Dual Alarm Two different, distinct wake times can be set, for a built-in failsafe for those who can't get up right away. Or, to be more practical, set one time for yourself, and one time for someone else. Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) This handy feature reduces drift while listening to FM stations. Sleep Timer automatically turns off the power after a preset time-period for those times when you drift off to sleep during use. Battery Back-up protects settings in the event of a temporary power interruption. Headphone Jack plugs in a set of headphones for private listening, and enjoy rich full sound without disturbing others. Snooze hit the snooze button, and the alarm will temporarily shut off, then turning back on in a short period, giving you extra snooze time.
Amazon.com Review
Fall asleep or wake up to the sound of your favorite CD or radio station with RCA's RP3751, a compact and remarkably good-sounding clock radio that also features dual alarms, a large green LED readout, and a minijack for headphone listening.

Unlike most clock radios, the RP3751 is a stereo unit, with a pair of side-firing 2.5-inch speakers that deliver a surprisingly full sound. It's not going to produce anything like high-fidelity sound, but at least the RP3751 tastefully sidesteps the tinny quality we associate with the majority of clock radios. But beware if you choose to wake to the beeper. Even with the Grad-U-Wake feature, it gets quite loud quite fast.

Because the RP3751 is a mere 6-inch cube, you can place it on a small or overcrowded night table without having to push aside your bedtime reading materials. We also liked the large LED readout, but we weren't so crazy about the dim radio dial, which can make it tough to find stations in a dark room.

The RP3751 is small and affordable, and it sounds very good. Despite our few gripes, RCA's RP3751 is strongly recommended. --Wayne Garcia

Pros:

  • Remarkably good sound
  • Compact and easy to place
  • Headphone jack

Cons:

  • Tuner display is too dark
  • Alarm tone is quite loud

Summary: Don't buy this one... 2004-12-08
Comment: I received this CD clock radio for Christmas a few years ago. It can no longer play CDs. The sound quality is very poor, and the radio reception is also poor.

The worst part is if you like to wake to music like I do, the giant volume button on the front is easily adjusted by your pillow as you toss and turn during the night. This means, you may not wake up at all, or wake up to blasting music!

Summary: Not for light sleepers who wake to CD 2003-11-20
Comment: I bought it to wake from CD, but when it activates, the CD mechanism makes an ungodly racket cueing to the track it's going to play.
End result: I woke to grinding CD-mechanism noises, not great music. Toss this puppy in the trash.

Other than that (fatal) flaw, the unit rocks. Everything is easy to use and intuitive, clearly labelled and very functional.
I thought the sound was great for an alarm clock.

Battery backup works well to preserve your settings but you should know it won't operate the unit. When the power goes out, the unit shuts down, just like everything else in your house. When the power comes back, you have a fully functional clock with the correct time already set and all your alarms, etc still there.
I didn't realize that when I bought the unit, and I think I'd rather have it require more batteries so that the unit will remain operational (for perhaps a day, and then switch to "save settings only" mode if the power remains off) -- that way, you won't miss your train the next morning if the power goes out in the middle of the night, and when you get home from work, you can get out your old wind-up alarm clock until the power comes back...

Summary: Oh Why, Oh Why Did The CD Die? 2002-12-12
Comment: I had the same experience as Wichita Falls, TX. The unit looks great and worked well but after about a month the CD player just died. That was last year. Since I haven't replaced it yet (for my desk at work) I thought I'd try again. Hopefully the CD issue (if there is one) has because corrected and my replacement unit will work as well as it looks.

Summary: Great design, if only it worked! 2002-09-11
Comment: After only several months, the CD player just stopped working. The radio and clock work OK now, but I was very disappointed in the early failure of the CD player. Unless RCA has done an upgrade that consumers can be aware of, I would stay away from this product.

Summary: Cheap buy 2001-07-13
Comment: I recently recieved this product as a gift and was very pleased with its original performance. However, within a week the cd player began to not work, saying that there was no disc loaded. I thought maybe it was just the disc so i tried other ones, none of them worked. I then tried playing the discs in another cd player and they all worked fine. I then decided maybe it was just a flaw in this particular player so i went and exchanged it for a new player. This new player then did the exact same thing to me when i brought it home, however this time it never worked. I would strongly discourage other customers from buying this product. The features are great on the player/alarm clock and I hope that RCA fixes the above described problem soon.
