The alarm has nice big light green colored numbers easy to read from a distance.
I didn't want an alarm with RED numbers. The green is softer looking.
The alarm comes with the BACKUP batteries already installed. The instructions say to plug it in and the time is automatically set, which it is if you don't remove the batteries. However, if the time is off by a few seconds you have to set the clock.
THEN you have to get the instructions out.
The controls for setting time and alarms are on the back/top. If you are older, as I am, you will need your glasses to try and see what to switch.
The radio is not "HI-FI" but is OK for an alarm.
CON:
The only "complaint" I have is with the -time zone- button.
You push the button until you set the correct time zone for where you live. Problem is, it does not display ANYTHING to tell you WHAT time zone you are setting. I guess this is OK, all you do is push the button until the correct HOUR...Read more

Very happy with this clock radio. Two alarm settings, easy to set.
Uses Common AA batteries for backup power rather than more a more expensive 9 volt.
Easy to view big green digits. Uncluttered, good looking unit.
Also the alarms are ascending in volume, so if you ignore it, it gets louder!
Thought this one would be a winner because we had two of the previous generation of this model.

This alarm clock is pretty nice, and arguably better than most. What I like about it, specifically:
1. It has two alarms, and you can enable either one, or both of them at the same time. This is very flexible, particularly if you have one alarm time you like for the week and a different alarm time for a weekend or just some other day when you want a different wake-up time. This way you aren't constantly setting and resetting your alarm.
2. It's heavy enough to sit still on your desk/nightstand while you're fiddling with the buttons. This is one of my pet peeves on cheap alarm clocks. :)
3. It has time zone support (but see below).
4. It shows the alarm time for either alarm 1 or alarm 2 (but not both at the same time).
It is not without its flaws, though.
1. RCA advertises it with lines like "time automatically set" which implies that it's an auto-setting clock. It is not. What they mean is that the clock is set to the...Read more
