Philips AJ3231 Mirror Finish Clock Radio

Comment: Good bedside alarm clock. Easy to read digits. I think the amber is easy to see in the dark yet easy on the eyes.

Comment: The mirrored surface of this clock looks nice on my nightstand -- except when I need the clock the most! Be sure to turn it away from your face, unless you look better in the morning than I do!

I don't like this clock as much as the one I used to use, mainly because it is hard to see what I am doing when I set the time for the alarm. But it is good for the guest room.

Comment: This is by far the best looking alarm clock I have owned. It looks SLICK in a way that makes you turn your head and say, "Wow, that looks slick!" It is nice to have a sophisticated "grown up" alarm clock.

My iPhone 3G plays nicely with it so I can stream music from Pandora or Slacker Radio.

It is PACKED with features and options.

My gripe with it is this... the controls are not lit and are complex tiny things to have to fiddle with in the dark. It is impossible to know what you are doing to it without task light and holding it directly in full view. An alarm clock's interface should be more intuitive and logical than this. If you MUST have such an frustrating layout, at least make it back lit.

I'm not sure why I am giving it 4 stars, because I have had to stop using it due to the frustrating controls. It is pretty!

Comment: Gave this Item as a gift to parents. They both like the look of this alarm clock radio. This is probably the best for the money and easy to use.

Comment: I was quite shocked when taking this alarm clock out of the box when I saw the fit and finish of the device wasn't up to par with what a production device should exhibit. The surface of the clock area and the meeting of the bottom section has what could only be explained as nicks out of the material. It just doesn't look like a polished ready for release product.

The sound quality of this unit is worse than that of other clock radios. It is exceptionally tinny. Not that I expect great sound quality from a clock radio, but if you add in the capability to play a MP3 player, I'd expect something decent out of the speakers.

Radio reception is horrible. All stations, even on the FM band, have that staticy sound that you get from an AM radio station. I am in an area that radio reception is pretty good and I can't pick up a radio station solidly on this device.

The dual alarm clock is very nice. Having multiple alarms for the two most common waking times is perfect, don't need to change the alarm all the time!

[Edit 1/5/10] - The tuning of the radio stations is just so horrific that you can't wake to music on this radio. There really is no point in calling this anything more than an alarm clock. Leave the radio part out of the equation.
