But reading between the lines I decided to take a chance. I bit the bullet and bought it and so far I am happy I did. I did find one thing I would like changed, one thing I would like enhanced. The negative and needing changed is that the dual alarms will both sound by the same method. Either both by buzzer or both by radio. I personally like to use one alarm by radio, one by buzzer. That gives me a gentle wake up and then a reminder alert a little later. To make the clock better, it would be nice if you could dim the weather LED. It is bright, no doubt about it. You can set it so that it only comes on for 10 seconds when you press a button, but I'd still like to see it dimmable. As far as the other complaints... almost all the bad reviews could be corrected and attributed to user error. If people would RTFM before moaning, life would be easier. Time resets to central but you...Read more 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful: By Jeff4U (Conyers, GA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Philips AJ260 Weather Station Clock Radio (Electronics) !!! UPDATE December 7, 2011: the back-lit display area no longer stays on, leaving the clock dark at night. (I'm not talking about that corner multi-color weather prediction light)
However, the display area will light if you touch any button, but then it turns itself off after about 5-6 seconds. The end result - when I walk into my bedroom at night, I can't see the clock at all. (no back-lit display) I called Philips and although they were very friendly, they couldn't help solve this problem. Also, while talking on the phone and turned the clock upside down to view the reset button, the A/C adapter cord broke off! My Philips clock lasted 2 years and 4 months total. UPDATE July 17, 2010: I still love this alarm clock. NO problems at all! I'm really surprised to see low reviewer star ratings. Although I agree it's not perfect, such as the corner light gimmick that is supposed to predict upcoming outdoor changing weather conditions, I really...Read more 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Philips AJ260 Weather Station Clock Radio (Electronics) I bought the Philips AJ260 Weather Station Clock Radio about a week ago. The instructions are not written that well but once you get through reading and understanding the instructions and are able to read the small print, I am really liking this product. It is exactly what I wanted, tells time (could be brighter), gives weather and is an alarm, which is all I wanted. The radio isn't a Bose, but it really plays well. It is raining now outside and the color is purble, so that is working fine...I forgot to set the alarm one night but now I can see there is a little pic. on the face that says whether the alarm is on or off..did not know that till I started playing with it....Its pretty and does what it says it will do so I am a very happy camper..The reviews weren't great when I bought it so I thought I would give a good review for everyone to read...hope it continues working after this week ha ha.....Lo |
