Product Review

Movado Travel alarm clock. The art of Movado is the art of design. Since its founding in 1881 by 19-year old entrepreneur Achille Ditesheim in the village of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Movado has achieved a legacy of design innovation. Movado, meaning "always in motion" in the international language of Esperanto, is the hallmark of some of the most famous timepieces ever created. Defined by a single dot at 12 representing the sun at high noon, the Museum Watch dial is regarded as an icon of Modernism. It was designed by Bauhaus-influenced artist Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. When Horwitt's dial was selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1960, it was the first watch dial ever awarded this distinction. The name "Museum Watch" derives from this recognition. Today, Movado watches are in prominent museums worldwide, and this legendary dial distinguishes an entire collection of singular timepieces. There are currently more than 25 upscale Movado Boutique stores in major markets across the United States.

I had to cruise many sites, trying to find out what exactly this product was. Since it was somewhat unclear still, until I received it, I'm writing to help other people know what they're looking at.

The little clock is heavy, and rests on the back of its screw-on travel case, which appears to be brushed stainless steel. The clock is heavy for its size, which is the only thing that makes it stable enough to sit in a shallow groove on the outside surface of the protective case. Everything looks and feels as if it is of very good quality.

You set the alarm time by rotating the outer edge of the clock face. The alarm off/on toggle is behind the clock, at the top backside, equivalent to where the the white dot is on the clock face.

I believe you have to actually take the clock off its stand to turn the alarm off and on, but I have only tried it one time so far. The alarm starts off faintly, for 8 pulses, louder for 8 pulses, then loud at double-time...Read more

I recently ordered a Movado alarm clock from Jewels.for.you through Amazon.com.
This is a comment about the vendor. I am unable to rate the clock itself as it will be a gift. Will mark it as a 5 as the message will not go through without a numerical rating.
Jewels.for.you sent the item correctly and in a timely manner.
The recipient desired a large desk clock rather than a travel alarm clock. So, I inquired about a return.
Jewels.for.you answered my e-mail on a Sunday without delay. They were courteous and explained the return process clearly.
I just want to recommend doing business with this company, Jewels.for.you.
Thanks.

Seller is very fast and responsive. But the watch itself is inferior craftsmanship. Alarm is always on when you hit the ON switch. Construction is solid heavy aluminum. Unfortunately clock itself is not the quality as Movado does. Chinese made. Black paint came off on the first day.
