Back to the Future with this Clock!,
December 27, 2005 Lincoln J. Mennuti (New York, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HoMedics SS-6000 Sound Machine with CD, Atomic Clock Radio and Time Projection (Health and Beauty)
It's "Back to The Future" with this Clock because; The Atomic Clock sync and the projection features bring it up to the "future", BUT the dual-mono speakers and AM/FM analog dial throws this clock right into the past.
Further breakdown of the Pros/Cons:
Pros:
- Atomic time sync
- Wall projection (with focus ring and angle of projection adjustment)
- Timer function (15, 30 or 60 minute auto-shutoff via "Timer" button press)
- Built-in CD Player
- Rainforest, Ocean, Summer Night and Rain sounds are decent
Cons:
- Analog dial for AM/FM stations??!! With all the other digital features on this clock, why couldn't they add some basic digital AM/FM features? You can't preset any stations, you can't even see what station you're currently on (except to listen for the Station Name to be announced)
- WAY TOO BRIGHT display. Even at the lower brightness setting the always-backlit display...Read more

not worth buying it,

I thought I got a small stereo set but it has two MONO speakers so the sound is not harmony. The projection is small and angle is adjusted backward (who can see the projection on the back during sleep?). I couldn't get atomic clock to automatic set the time by following the instructions. Also it is HUGE that it occupies the entire table and the LCD is too bright to affect your sleep.
It is not CD changer which it fits one CD only so that you won't be able to wake up by different CD. Go find another projection clock if you love that feature. The one I got instead is "Oregon Scientific RM313PNA" which has big display on projection and cost much less. Read my review for details.

I wanted an atomic clock for time accuracy, and I preferred one with CD also. Don't care about the "nature sounds", but I did listen and they sound like nature sounds to me, so I guess they work.
Atomic clock was position sensitive, I had to move a dresser to get the clock in a position where it had a steady signal.
The backlit LCD was -way- bright, but it does have two settings, bright, and brighter. I moved the selector half-way in the middle and it shut the back light off. much better. :)
The projector works good, but I wish it was more swivelable/versatile. it pivots from straight up to straight off the back, not side to side at all. It is a -tad- bright, but very livable.
The sound quality is OK, and quite adequate for a clock radio. It will play relatively loud, and the volume knob is very desensitized, so you can fine tune the audio to very subtle volume changes for night listening. Great feature.
I gave it an average...Read more
