Use the message volume control to choose a quiet or loud voice for that personal note. This review is from: GPX D516 AM/FM Digital Clock Radio with Memo Messaging (Electronics)
The clock feature works well and is easy to read at night. The radio also works well for a little clock radio. I bought this for the memo feature that allows you to record your own message (or surreptitiously alter your wife's message) to serve as your alarm, and that feature is somewhat disappointing. The audio quality is poor, and you might have 10 seconds to record your message. If you only wanted to record something like "get milk", it's fine, but that strikes me as a decidedly lame message and a rather costly way to circumvent the use of not even 2 cents worth of pencil and paper.
