2.0 out of 5 stars It flys but I cannot select the time!, July 16, 2008
This review is from: Flying Alarm Clock (Electronics)
I received this as gift. It is perfect for me--almost--but I cannot figure out how to set it---Honest, I have a college degree and have had two other people try. Mine only has 5 buttons: Demo set snooze up and mode. The demo sounds like an airplane taking off--seems loud enough to wake me. It has a different alarm for different days feature that I think is terrific. I have successfully set the alarm for several days, and I managed the date, but I cannnot, for the life of me, set the time. I can get the right # but it just keeps flashing. There were NO instructional papers in or on the box! I guess it is still effective. I am lying awake nights trying to figure this out, so I don't need an alarm anymore. PS--if anyone else can help me please explain in a review below.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shoddy build quality, December 2, 2008
This review is from: Flying Alarm Clock (Electronics)
The idea is sound: a dongle launches itself up into the air, which you have to find and replace in order to get the base station to let you go back to sleep. By the time you've found the dongle, you're probably awake anyway.

This implementation, however, leaves much to be desired. For starters, the alarm is the loudest that I've heard in a long time, and there is no way to adjust the volume. The controls in general aren't all that intuitive or satisfying.

But worst of all, the helicopter bit just isn't durable enough. It is a cheap plastic... the kind that you find with children's toys, with a foam ball. The key which connects the helicopter portion to the base had broken within a week. You can use nearly anything to turn it off, but the flying bit refused to fly any more.

Don't be suckered in by a good idea... much better alarm clocks are availble out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea... Lousy Product, December 27, 2007
Before I give my review let me say that I DID NOT buy this item from Amazon or from the seller here. I saw this on QVC and wanted one for my 4 year old son. I found one cheaper at our local drug store than it was offered for on TV. I got it at Rite-Aid for $[...].

THIS looks EXACTLY like the FLYING ALARM CLOCK I bought there. Mine is made by "Absolutely New". So, if the one offered here is from a different company then perhaps it works... but mine does not. It's a WONDERFUL and FUN idea... if only it would work correctly. GRRR

What the one I bought is supposed to do: You install 4 AA batteries (which it doesn't tell you anywhere on the box or on the paperwork inside by the way). You set the clock, you set the alarm. When the alarm goes off the the ball with the propeller is supposed to launch into the air 9 feet (according to the ads and QVC) and fly around the room while a siren-like alarm sounds until you get up out of bed, find the "flyer" and...Read more
