Summary: Good to have as part of my emergency kit 2009-12-13
Comment: I added this to my emergency kit (every home in LA should have one). Works as advertised. Be aware that chargers for cell phones need to be ordered directly from the manufacturer's web site and they take a LONG time to send it (over a month), however there is no charge for one free charger cable. With hindsight I might have bought the version with a solar panel. Still haven't set up the short wave radio, as you need to apply for a license .. right. Recommended, but check out their other models too and think about what is most important to you feature wise.

Very impressed with the radio function and battery life. And absolutely beautiful to look at. I can't sort out the cell phone charging capabilities yet, but I'm sure that will come soon. And the fact that they're making a donation to parks makes me want to buy another for a friend! Thanks.

Summary: Poor reception 2009-06-13
Comment: I was disappointed with the AM/FM reception. The electronic tuner is not good at discriminating signals and the strong stations bleed over into adjacent frequencies. The NOAA weather bands are very clear. I did not try the voicelink communications functions. The LED light is bright and the backlit LCD display is very nice. I returned it because I just can't deal with a radio with bad reception. My Sony ICF-2010 is the gold standard for portables and now I'm still looking for a good emergency radio.
