The nice bright face, with contrasting yellow background, shown on the image is only a sticker. The actual face is gray and black and is not easy to see, even when lit by pushing the tiny button that you'll never find in the dark. Even worse is if the clock is not near a window, it won't set the time. It also can't be in a concrete building, or about 10 other places according to the directions, for it to work properly. I can't trust that this will work properly wherever I'm staying on my trip. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful: By ejlcom (Portland, OR USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Equity by La Crosse SkyScan 31420 Travel Atomic Alarm Clock (Electronics) I have tried to get used to this clock but there is no loving it! I cannot easily (or even with effort) see the display. The blacklight is difficult to trigger when one is in the dark and the yellow background is, oh so, difficult from which to discern the display numbers. Setting this clock is not very easy, either. As I travel from time zone to time zone, I have to manually set the zone via a confusing and hard-to-see menu. I have had, however, no problem with the signal being picked up so this clock does accurately display the hour and minute (dependent upon my getting the correct time zone set). I am terribly disappointed and will be getting rid of this travel clock as soon as I can find a decent replacement. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Equity by La Crosse SkyScan 31420 Travel Atomic Alarm Clock (Electronics) I have had my clock for 2 years now. It is running off the original batteries. In the winter time with have power outages and I am always on time because my clock is accurate. I have left it in my truck on hot days. Dropped it many times and even dropped things on it. I lost it in my couch for awhile and it is still working. I agree that the manual is confusing and it may not be displaying the proper time when you get it. I don't really have an issue with the lighted face sticker because I know that a constantly lit face would really eat up the battery life. Many times I have reached for this clock in the night and hit the button lighting up it's face and found out not only what time it is, but also the temperature. The look of this clock, is that it is cheaply made and not sturdy. I didn't think much of it when I bought it, now I think it is the best clock I have ever owned. It folds up with a protective cover or fold it into a standing position (I know! It's like a...Read more |
