Casio AJ-1 Flat-Panel CD Player with Alarm Clock and AM/FM Tuner

I bought this player to replace a sony icfcd2000 travel radio/cd player that was left out in the rain (not good for cd players!). This Casio player was half the price of the sony and it kicks its (...)! The sound quality is far superior, the display is much more readable, the digital tuner is much higher quality (the one on the sony didn't even work for lower frequency FM stations!), and it has a remote! Yes it looks like a bathroom scale, so don't put it on the floor, but it can be easily thrown into a suitcase for travel. (...)

So it looks like a scale! Once you've gotten over that little detail you can start to enjoy all that it has to offer. Digital tuner, CD player (that will play CD-R's), better than average radio reception, an enhanced bass boot that works well, and a nifty remote "to boot." What else could you ask for? Sure, it's not going to fill the room like your home stereo, but you'd be silly to ask it to. Solid sound from the two front mounted speakers. Find myself using the remote a lot, even though I sit less than 2ft. away from the radio since the buttons are on the top and difficult to see.

The key advantage of this product is size. It is about the size of a piece of paper - 8.5 X 11" and about 1 1/4" thick. I was concerned that the sound would not be loud enough but it is fine. The sound is full and the remote control is a pleasure. Once my kids saw it they couldn't stop playing it. Nice design.
