I'm a fan of Braun design, and have an ever-growing collection of the brand's alarm clocks. The original AB1 was probably the simplest of these collectible clocks. Recently a handful of the classic Braun clock designs have been reissued, and this new model BNC002 is the rough equivalent of the original AB1 designed by Dietrich Lubs and released in 1987. It is approx. 2.25-inches square. The original clock evolved into the AB1A by the mid 1990s, the main difference being a smaller pop-up alarm switch. I love this clock! It is exactly what I wanted. Small, lightweight, black and easy to use. It is just a great alarm clock without any extras to weight it down or make it break down. I use it as a bed side-clock as well as a travel clock. I am so thankful that someone still makes a decent travel clock.

I still have my old German-made travel alarm clock from 25 years ago. It is still with me like a noble, old friend. The clock offered here at Amazon, of course, is not made in Germany. It is a much dinkier version, and the ticking is clearly audible. I returned it.
