Westclox began manufacturing the Big Ben in 1908, thereby launching one of the longest running products in American history. The version available today is a faithful replica of its 1931 Big Ben predecessor. The full metal case and base are finished in black and accented by chrome finishes where determined by designer Henry Dreyfuss. A white face behind a glass lens starkly contrasts with bold, black numbers and an elegant black metal casing; shiny chrome accents brighten the look. The hour and minute hands are black with white inlays and the sweeping second hand is a simple, unadorned gray. The alarm is easy to set and is controlled by a shutoff button on the top of the clock.
